More about Kayte Lewis

Kayte has woven these guiding principles into the culture of Voice Lawyers through her commitment to ongoing education, development and workplace training. This ensures the best possible service for Voice’s clients and helps lawyers realise their full potential. Kayte has presented various professional development seminars for the NSW Law Society on topics such as leadership development and effective communication. Kayte believes in the power of improved communications to resolve disputes and has worked with SMEs, Indigenous organisations, Government departments and multi-nationals to design and deliver training on bullying and harassment, effective workplace communication and best practice employment law.

Kayte’s experience

Kayte was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in 2012 and the High Court of Australia in 2013. She is accredited as a Mediator both Nationally (NMAS) and by the Law Society of NSW. She’s also a member of the Mediators Panel and has been a member of the Employment Law Committee of the Law Society of NSW since 2017, where she has been directly involved in providing input on legislative changes in employment law.

Kayte is a panellist on the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Family Law Settlement Service, which deals with matters of property settlement. She was elected Treasurer of the NSW Young Lawyers in 2016. She has served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee and Family Law Committee of the Law Society of NSW. Kayte serves on the Legal Aid Review Panel and has for the past four years, and is currently a panel member on the Legal Aid NSW Family Law and Domestic Violence Panels.

Kayte has a wealth of experience beyond law, having worked extensively as a freelance business consultant to larger organisations and Government. She constantly leverages that deeper commercial understanding and insight when it’s beneficial to her clients’ cases.

Prior to starting Voice Lawyers, Kayte worked in two boutique employment law practices, an entertainment law firm where she was responsible for the employment law aspects of their work for their clients and in a general practice law firm.

Kayte holds an Applied Master of Laws (LLM) (Dispute Resolution) and a Bachelor of Commerce, with a double major in Business Economics and Human Resources Management. She is an Associate of Trinity College London (A.T.C.L.) and is a Fellow of the College of Law.

Kayte’s work at Voice Lawyers

As well as leading the practice, Kayte’s own work involves all levels of individual and corporate employment law, including mediation, dispute resolution, litigation, contract reviews and organisational change. She also designs and implements workplace training and development and has a keen interest in brand protection and intellectual property management.

Kayte’s family law work is founded on respect and compassion, as well as a desire to ensure that her clients are fully prepared and informed as they move through the process. She supports them through each stage, constantly advocating for them and defending their position. And of course, ensuring their voice gets heard at all times.

Kayte has appeared in a wide variety of tribunals and courts for Voice Lawyers including the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Fair Work Commission, the Local and District Courts and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Much like her focus on ongoing individual development, Kayte is continually seeking ways for Voice Lawyers to do better – whether that be in providing a culture of support and professional development for its staff, improving the process for its clients, or working hard to positively represent the legal industry.
